About Us

Why We Write About the Planet

Real environmental stories, real science, no greenwashing. Just honest content about the world we share.

The Short Version

Regarding Planet is an environmental blog with over 350 articles covering everything from sustainable living and wildlife conservation to climate science and natural phenomena. We write for people who care about the planet and want to understand what's actually happening, without the doom-scrolling or the corporate greenwashing.

We started Regarding Planet because environmental content online tends to fall into two extremes: either it's so technical that only scientists can follow it, or it's so oversimplified that it's basically useless. We wanted something in between. Articles rooted in real science but written in a way that anyone can understand and act on. That's what we've been building, and that's what you'll find here.

What We Write About

Our content covers five main areas, each exploring a different aspect of our relationship with the planet:

Sustainability & Green Living

This is our largest section, and it's where a lot of readers start. Sustainability isn't just about recycling. It's about rethinking how we consume, build, travel, and live. We cover practical topics like reducing your household footprint without going off-grid, understanding what "sustainable" labels actually mean, the economics of green energy, and how communities around the world are finding creative solutions to environmental challenges. If you want to make better choices without the guilt trips, start here.

Nature & Wildlife

The natural world is extraordinary, and it's changing fast. Our nature and wildlife articles explore biodiversity, endangered species, ecosystems, and the fascinating behaviors of animals and plants. We cover topics like how deforestation is reshaping entire ecosystems, the surprising intelligence of species we underestimate, conservation success stories that actually give you hope, and what the science says about rewilding. Whether you're a nature enthusiast or just curious, there's always something here that'll surprise you.

Pollution & Waste

Pollution is one of those problems that's everywhere but somehow stays invisible until it's in your backyard. We dig into the details: microplastics in the ocean and in your drinking water, air quality and what it means for your health, the global waste crisis and why recycling alone won't fix it, and industrial pollution that rarely makes headlines. Our goal is to make these issues tangible and understandable, not just scary.

Climate & Global Change

Climate change is the defining issue of our time, and the science is both complex and constantly evolving. We break it down: rising temperatures, sea levels, extreme weather patterns, carbon cycles, and what the latest IPCC reports actually say. We also cover the political and economic dimensions: who's doing what, what's working, and what's just talk. If you want to understand climate change beyond the headlines, this section goes deep.

Natural Phenomena

From volcanic eruptions and earthquakes to auroras and tidal patterns, the Earth puts on a show that never stops. Our natural phenomena articles explain the science behind these events, why they happen, how they shape landscapes, and what they tell us about the planet's past and future. This is the section for anyone who's ever looked at a thunderstorm or a glacier and thought, "How does that even work?"

How We Create Our Content

Every article on Regarding Planet goes through a careful process. We research each topic using peer-reviewed journals, environmental agency reports, and expert sources. We write the article in accessible language without dumbing down the science. Then we review it for accuracy, clarity, and usefulness before publishing.

We also revisit and update older articles when new data or research emerges. Environmental science moves fast, and new studies on everything from ocean temperatures to species populations come out constantly. We think it's important that our content reflects the latest understanding rather than sitting there with outdated numbers.

We're not a research institution and we don't claim to be. Our articles are educational. They're meant to help you understand environmental issues better and make more informed decisions. They're not a substitute for expert advice on specific situations.

Why Readers Trust Regarding Planet

Trust is earned, and here's how we work to earn it:

  • No greenwashing. We don't sugarcoat environmental problems or pretend that buying a reusable bag will save the planet. We give you the full picture, including the uncomfortable parts.
  • We cite our sources. When we reference a study, a report, or a statistic, we make it easy for you to check it yourself.
  • We acknowledge uncertainty. Environmental science is complex and evolving. When the research is mixed or when experts disagree, we say so rather than pretending there's a simple answer.
  • We write for readers, not algorithms. Yes, we use SEO because that's how people find us. But we never sacrifice accuracy or nuance for a clickbait headline.

The Numbers

Since we launched, we've published over 350 in-depth articles across our five environmental categories. Sustainability & Green Living alone has over 80 articles, making it one of the most comprehensive free resources on practical environmental living. We add new content regularly, so there's always something fresh to explore.
